The main difference between modular and manufactured homes is the code to which they are built. Manufactured homes are built to a federal HUD code, while modular homes are built to state or local residential building codes like stick built. Modulars also use materials like stick built homes or better.
Factory built homes are built off site in a controlled manufacturing environment. Each home is built in sections, or modules, and then transported to the site where they are installed on permanent foundations, and completed by professional installers. Approximately 80% - 90% of factory built construction takes place indoors where materials are protected from the elements and quality is consistent.
Just like with a custom stick built home there are several upgrades to choose from. We offer features you might not expect in factory-built housing, including popular floor covering options, vaulted ceilings, built-in entertainment centers, lovely master bathrooms, modern updated kitchens with stainless steel appliances, fireplaces, custom cabinetry, finished drywall, bay windows, custom porches, and more.
